Brand and Website Development / Les Jardins
A True Wedding Experience
The project included the development of the Les Jardins brand, writing, messaging, and the development of a responsive website. Originally developed as an html website, the site was later redeveloped in Wordpress as a visual replication of the original site.
Building the value from the elements that included the unique offerings, experience of staff, amenities, and the beauty of the grounds, the brand development incorporated the value, differentiators, competitive advantage. With the unique offerings working to set the venue apart from any other wedding venue. Because weddings are a competitive industry, the brand development focused on the surroundings, features, and landscape, and painting a picture with words.
The visual brand development included the site design, the tone, look and feel. The design of icons, graphic elements, color and typography palettes, with the style of the graphics working as one with the feel of the site design. The usage of photos was an important component of the website design. Developed as messaging, the value, competitive advantage, and differentiators were also created as graphic elements to convey the strength of the brand as visual elements.
The approach in the design of the site was to ensure the photographs are the primary focus, to ensure the layout does not compete with the photography for attention. This was achieved through the layout, typography, the color palette, and the style of the graphic elements. This approach ensures the design compliments, not competes with the photos.
In addition to being a design element and key component of the visual brand, the colors in the palette work as a navigational element in the site, as well as providing structure and working as an anchor element.
The messaging and writing incorporated the developed brand value, working with the photos to “paint a picture”. As the typography was an important ingredient of the design, they helped establish a feel. The chosen typefaces also worked well with the tone and feel of the messaging, and the design approach of not competing with the photography. The typography, along with color, graphics, and photography ensured everything works as one. Click here to see how the Les Jardins brand was redeveloped into a new brand. A continual commitment to excellence was also incorporated into the development of the differentiators and competitive advantage.
Project Summary & Notes

In the website design, one of the goals was to ensure the photography takes center stage, with the elements complimenting, not competing with the photographs. The color and typography played an important role in the brand development, and in the design of the website. Painting a picture with words, the typography conveyed the feel of the writing.
