Identity Design / The Logo Design Co.
Incorporating Type & Graphics
The project included the development of the logo and identity system, with the components of the identity system designed to provide a visual solution.
The design of the logo incorporated the letters L, D, and a relevant graphic element, using form and color to direct the eye by creating a focal point. The elements within the logo were used to build the components of the identity system, incorporating the tone, feel and relying on typography as the creative concept carried throughout the identity system. The chosen color palette functions as a visual element and solves a problem, with the solution enabling the identity system to work with any color, any color palette and all visual elements.
Project Approach
Developed specifically for the website, the elements of the identity system needed to work with the various creative in the site. The colors and graphic elements of the Logo Design Co. brand needed to complement the portfolio of logos and graphics, not compete against. The use of typography and the developed color scheme applied to the site allows the portfolio of logos that are the subject matter of the site to be the main focal point, with the brand's design applied to the site to compliment the logos, not overpower.
The approach of using typography as a design element was carried from the design of the logo which combined type and graphic elements to create the logo, a concept carried throughout the identity system and applied to developing the website graphics. The components of the Logo Design Co. identity system include the primary logo, secondary logo, brand icon, wordmark, palette of icons, suite of graphics, color and typography palette.
Summary Compliment Not Compete
To ensure the identity system and design of the site did not compete against the logos showcased in the site, the use of color and typography as a design element helped ensure structure and organization while complementing and allowing the subject matter to be better showcased in the site.
While all of the elements of an identity system may not be used, the creative process and creative exploration encourages thought that solves problems and provides solutions.
